Oh, Happy Day!

Check out this proposal by an artist in Chicago. How wonderfully creative!

It reminded me of the beautiful way that Alex used his creative mind to propose to me over two years ago.

It's the small things

Yesterday, I purchased a 12-pack of ultra fine tip Sharpies. Ever since, I've been really happy about having these permanent markers in my possession. I know they aren't anything special, but I write so well with them and I now have 12 color options. For me, it just takes the little things to get me excited, I guess. Do you feel this way about anything? -LB

HIking the Narrows - Zion National Park, Utah

So...

I finally figured out how to sign in to my Blogger account. Somehow I forgot my password and couldn't sign in and was too lazy (or busy, actually) to try to discover the problem. So, maybe I'm back to blogging occasionally, not that I have any readers left. -LB

Things are Rollin' Right Along

It is quite difficult to blog when you don't have a desk job, and when your nights are full with grading papers and tests, meetings about the galleries and visual arts at the 930 Art Center/Sojourn, pulling a 50-piece gallery show out of 4 huge crates until 11:00 PM, hanging gallery shows, meetings for Travelogue, editing articles for Travelogue, writing for Travelogue, cleaning up at the new building/930 Mary Street, etc.

Regardless, I just wanted to catch everyone up on a few things. Sojourn is officially in its new building. We will have our first services there this Sunday. Michael and Mickie Winters and I have been working to get all the gallery stuff rolling. Michael has been working especially hard! We have three galleries. The first floor houses the worship space, the music venue, and the main gallery. We're hanging the show tonight and will have the public gallery opening on Dec. 8. The second floor houses the offices for Sojourn Community Church, and the gallery on that floor is for Sojourn artists. We had the opening for that gallery on Nov. 3. It was awesome! There were probably 70 people that showed up! The thrid floor houses studio space rented out by artists, and the gallery on the third floor is for the studio artists. These are very exciting times!

Here are some pictures (by Winters extraordinaire) of the second floor gallery (Sojourn artists) opening:

If this doesn't put a smile on your face I don't know what will...
